Each sticker is four layers, together about as thin as a sheet of paper. Light passes up through them in this order:
Your two eyes see slightly different points through the lenses, so your brain places the picture in space. Spacing the lenses a fraction wider or narrower than the tiny images decides whether it floats above the surface or sinks below it.
